Road to SPC11 - Day 3

Day 3 of the SharePoint Podshow 'Road to SPC 11' road trip. We're now in West Oklahoma, about 60 miles away from the Texas state line. Rob has been bbq'ing some great food, and I've been doing a good job with the washing dishes in the morning.

We set off on Saturday afternoon after watching Rob's son win at Soccer. Will plays at the 5-6 year level - and I tell you what - the girls in the team were showing the boys how to do it! After the soccer we stopped at Publix for supplies and headed out just before lunch. Our route is fairly simple - get on the I-40 at Nashville and drive west until you hit the ocean. As we hired our RV from Camp America we get a discount at KOA camp grounds so we set off each day having a look at our KOA map and choosing a destination.

First night stop was at Little Rock, Arkansas, which apparently is pronounced Arkansaw. They are a little bit crazy about Bill Clinton in this area as he was governor in Little Rock before he became president. I think some of the local residents still think he is president going by the shrine to Clinton they have created at the camp ground. Funny though I couldn't find any pictures of him with Monica Lewinsky.

On Sunday morning Rob went for a run along the river and nearly got beaten up by some other local joggers (his words). After a spot of breakfast and a tidy of the RV we set off around 10am for a full days driving. We were hoping to get to Fort Smith, but ended up settling for the El Reno West KOA camp ground near Geary. All was great except it was built on an Indian Reservation and no-where within 10 miles sold alcohol. Even the restaurant - what's that all about?

After some great bbq streak we finished watching series 3 of The Inbetweeners. Rob wants to be just like Jay, so if you see him at SPC ask him where the klunge is at tonight. I actually think Rob is most like Neil judging by some of the farting that's going on. Thankfully though he hasn't tried mixing any red wine, ribena and sleeping pills - yet!

As we're driving across the US one question keeps coming to my mind - how many bloody lorries are there in the USA?! One thing that did surprise me is that Taco Bell is actually quite nice.

Our planned stops over the next few days are:
Monday - Tucamcari
Tuesday - Flagstaff
Wednesday - Somewhere in California
Thursday - Malibu Beach
Friday - Malibu Beach
Saturday - Anaheim - ready for the conference!

Ciao for now - Nick (& Rob)
